Why horse nutrition is essential

To ensure the well-being of both horse and pony, horses should have access to feed for at least 12 hours (preferably 14) a day. Breaks of more than 4 hours between meals should not exist. The basis of 10kg of hay or hay at will for a
500kg horse is recommended. Unfortunately, it’s a rare application!

Crau hay is often given in smaller quantities, which is logical because it contains 2.5 x
more calcium and with a diet rich in cereals, this rebalances the Calcium/Phosphorus ratio. On the other hand, the horse is often only occupied for 5 hours with the ration!

Which is obviously not enough.

How long does chewing last?

  • Hay: 1 kg/h
  • Straw: 1 kg/h
  • Pre: 5 kg/h
  • Silage: 2 kg/h
  • Concentrate: 6 kg/h
